Dagestan reacts to torture of a native of the republic by Moscow Region police
The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, responded to information about the torture of a native of Dagestan, Magomed Magomedov, detained in the Moscow Region. He said that the situation requires close attention.

“I very much hope that the statements of his lawyer will be examined in detail and fairly, and that the guilty parties, no matter which side they are on, will be punished as they deserve,” Melikov wrote.

26-year-old Magomed Magomedov was detained on suspicion of converting a traumatic pistol into a combat pistol. As the young man said, on January 20, he was taken from his home and taken to the Razvilkovsky police department of the Leninsky urban district. Magomedov reported through his lawyer that he was tortured at the police station – beaten, shocked, and raped with a mop. He stated that three employees took part in these actions and he could identify all of them by sight. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation.
