During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
Today in Makhachkala a weekly single picket was held in support of journalist-political prisoner Abdulmumin Gadzhiev. As soon as the deputy editor-in-chief of the Chernovik publication, Magomed Magomedov, unfolded his poster, an unknown person approached him and showed him a poster with similar text.
Magomedov rolled up his poster and warned the approaching man that he was breaking the law. However, police officers quickly identified two picketers and banned the protest. Chernovik considers the incident to be a police provocation aimed at disrupting a single picket.
Let us recall that in September 2023, the Rostov District Military Court found Abdulmumin Gadzhiev guilty and sentenced him to 17 years in prison. The editor of the “Religion” section of the Chernovik publication was tried under articles on “participation in the activities of terrorist organizations” and “financing terrorism.”
According to investigators, the journalist published materials about the Ansar charity foundation and did not mention that part of the money collected was sent to the Islamic State, an organization banned in the Russian Federation. At the same time, the examinations did not find any signs of justification for terrorism in Hajiyev’s articles, and prosecution witnesses spoke in favor of the defendants.
