In Dagestan, parents of a man killed by police held pickets
The parents of Kurban Dalgatov, who died as a result of torture in the Sovetsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Makhachkala, held single-person pickets. They expressed their disagreement with the lenient sentence for one of the defendants, former employee of the criminal investigation department of the district department of internal affairs Islam Atavov. He made a deal with the investigation and was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison.

Earlier, Dalgatov's family was denied permission to hold a rally for a fair sentence. The Makhachkala authorities argued their decision by the undesirability of mass protests due to the possible threat of terrorist attacks and drone attacks.

Recall that Kurban Dalgatov was killed in 2023 in the Sovetsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Makhachkala. According to the official indictment, his death was the result of torture. The man was beaten with his hands and feet, and electric shock was used. He was brought to the police department as a witness to a shooting between two city residents.

A total of 13 police officers are involved in the case. The mother of the deceased, Raisat Dalgatova, reported that two of the accused were released to the "SVO", several were placed under house arrest, and another was not held accountable at all.
