Dead seals were found again in Dagestan
The coast of the Caspian Sea in Dagestan is filled with dead seals thrown from the sea. Their remains on the shore near the Novolak district hospital are in the stage of decomposition.

In December, specialists of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Dagestan also found a large number of dead seals on the coast of the Caspian Sea. Experts stated that one of the probable causes of the death of animals could be underwater earthquakes and gas emissions on the way of their migration.

Previously, cases of mass death of seals were noted not only on the Caspian coast in the water area of Dagestan, but also in Kalmykia and Kazakhstan. In 2023, dead Caspian seals were found in the Lenin district of Makhachkala. Eight Red Book animals were lying on the territory of the "Oasis" beach.

In 2022, 2.5 thousand corpses of rare seals were thrown onto the shore of the Caspian Sea in Dagestan. Their dead carcasses could not be removed for a long time. At first, the release of methane into the sea was called the cause of the death of the seals. Then there was a version according to which seals could die en masse due to bird flu.
