A gas pipeline caught fire after three explosions in Dagestan

Three explosions rocked a main gas pipeline in Kizilyurt, Dagestan. Information about the explosions was published on the website and Telegram channel of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations.

"At 7:45 PM on June 9, 2026, reports of a gas pipeline explosion accompanied by a flash began coming in through the 112 system. <...> According to preliminary information, three explosions occurred on a 1200-millimeter diameter main gas pipeline," the ministry's publication reported.

The necessary forces and resources have been dispatched to the scene. 25 people and seven pieces of equipment have been deployed, including 12 people and three pieces of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to the city administration, the fire occurred between Gelbakh and Bavtugay. Gas supply has been cut off, and the remaining gas is burning in the pipeline. It is noted that a leak could have been the cause.
