On August 23, Patyaeva stood by the monument to journalists who died for freedom of speech, holding a sign that read: "I demand an investigation into the murder of Seda Suleymanova." Deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, head of the investigation department Rufat Ismailov was detained. According to TASS, searches were carried out at his home and work. He is suspected of receiving a bribe in the amount of 100 million rubles.
Rufat Ismailov was appointed to the post of Deputy Minister at the end of 2019. Prior to this, he held this post for several months in an interim capacity. He graduated from the Nizhny Novgorod Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, worked as deputy head of the Derbent City Department of Internal Affairs for investigative work.
