A native of the North Caucasus suspected of financing terrorism has been detained in Germany
The German Prosecutor General's Office reported the detention of Russian citizen Zelimkhan D. in Berlin on suspicion of raising funds for the terrorist organization ISIS.
 
According to the department, in August 2022, the suspect joined a criminal group. Its goal was to raise money for ISIS in Germany and other European countries. Donations were received primarily on social networks and sent through intermediaries to terrorists abroad.
 
Zelimkhan D. managed one of the fundraising funds. He participated in several transfers to ISIS totaling more than 60,000 euros. The Russian citizen is charged under articles of the Criminal Code on membership in a criminal organization, aiding a terrorist organization abroad, as well as a charge of violating the law on foreign economic activity.
