In Georgia, protest against the draft law on «foreign agents»

Another protest rally is taking place at the Parliament building in Tbilisi. People are opposed to the proposed law on foreign agents, which may restrict the rights of the media and non-profit organizations. The participants carried out on the street many flags of the European Union and the United States and claim that "the revolution will definitely take place in the country".
Archil Talakvadze, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, said that the MP «will make a decision that will not harm any organization that really serves the country and society».
Earlier representatives of the Georgian opposition, NGOs and journalists, EU countries and USA said that the Georgian authorities are trying to adopt the Russian experience of fighting «foreign agents» and create a repressive mechanism. It includes a register of «agents of foreign influence», where all non-profit legal entities and mass media, whose revenues are financed by foreign forces in the amount of more than 20%, will be registered.
