Georgia expects Ukraine to take concrete steps to improve bilateral relations

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili expressed the expectation that Ukraine will reconsider its attitude toward Georgia by demonstrating real changes, rather than merely verbal declarations. According to the Foreign Minister, Kyiv's increased activity in establishing contacts is due to Georgia's growing importance as a regional transit hub and connecting link.

Bochorishvili emphasized that many countries are interested in cooperating with Tbilisi and using its territory for their own needs, and suggested that Ukraine may have similar interests.
The Foreign Minister also called Kyiv's previous position toward Georgia unfair. However, she noted that positive changes have recently been observed in Ukrainian statements, particularly a shift in the tone of criticism.

"It is difficult to immediately forget unfair treatment, unfounded statements, decisions, and steps taken," Bochorishvili noted.

The minister expressed confidence that the process of improving bilateral relations would not be rapid, but expressed hope that over time, constructive changes would be confirmed by practical actions.

As a reminder, on May 4, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Yerevan on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit. Tbilisi emphasized that the talks were initiated by the Ukrainian side. The heads of the two countries' foreign ministries, Maka Bochorishvili and Andriy Sybiga, also participated.
