During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
A rally in support of Afgan Sadygov was held in front of the government administration building in Georgia
A protest rally against the extradition of journalist Afgan Sadygov to Azerbaijan was held in front of the Georgian government administration building. He has been wanted since 2024, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported earlier.
Afgan Sadygov has been living in Georgia since December 2023. In May 2020, he was sentenced to seven years in Azerbaijan on charges of extortion. Human rights activists called the criminal case fabricated. Sadygov was pardoned in May 2023, but continued to face threats from the authorities and left his homeland.
Sadygov's wife was present at the rally, reporting threats against her with a demand not to defend her husband.
The issue of extradition will be decided by the court.
