Scandalous Law Withdrawn after Mass Protests in Georgia

The ruling party of Georgia «Georgian Dream» has issued a statement on repeal of the law on foreign agents, which led to two days of mass protests and riots in Tbilisi.
"We have decided to withdraw without reservation the bill we have previously supported. We must be very attentive to the peace, tranquillity and economic development in our country, as well as to Georgia’s progress on the path of European integration," the report said.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that 133 people have been detained in Tbilisi for two days during protests against the law on foreign agents. According to the agency, the participants damaged the iron fences, the front doors of the Parliament building, broke the windows, removed the iron bars and threw various objects and pyrotechnics at the building. Protesters also threw "Molotov cocktails", overturned and set several police cars on fire.
The Georgian opposition and numerous media reported the protests as successful. The Georgian authorities must also comply with the second requirement - to release all detainees.
