Russia does not intend to comply with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling requiring Georgian citizens to pay over 250 million euros, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated. When asked about the possibility of improving Russian-Georgian relations if the payment were made, Peskov noted that the Kremlin views this issue as a separate matter.

The Constitutional Court of Georgia accepted for consideration a motion to impeach the country's President Salome Zurabishvili. The conclusion will be submitted to parliament within a month. If the court's decision is positive, the issue will be put to a vote in parliament. Zurabishvili will be removed from office if 100 out of 150 deputies vote for it.
On September 1, the ruling Georgian Dream party announced the launch of impeachment (removal from office) proceedings against the president. The reason was Zurabishvili’s trip to Europe, which was not coordinated with the government, to meet with the leadership of Germany and France, as well as the head of the European Council. Thus, the constitution was violated, according to which the president can exercise representative functions in foreign policy only with the consent of the Cabinet of Ministers.
