Russia does not intend to comply with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling requiring Georgian citizens to pay over 250 million euros, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated. When asked about the possibility of improving Russian-Georgian relations if the payment were made, Peskov noted that the Kremlin views this issue as a separate matter.
Georgia remembers the Day of Soviet Occupation

February 25 has been declared the Day of Soviet Occupation in Georgia. The national flag is flown at half-mast over the government administration building.
The first Georgian Republic was proclaimed on May 26, 1918 and lasted only two and a half years. At the same time, it was recognized by key European states. However, on February 25, 1921, Soviet power was declared in Georgia after being captured by Russian troops.
“Remembering the lessons of the past is important to preserving the future. Today, independence and freedom have triumphed. Attempts by Russian imperialism to test our resolve in the occupied territories or through hybrid measures will not restore the past,” Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili wrote on social networks.
