Former Head of Bank of Russia to Stand Trial in Ingushetia

The criminal case against Magomed-Bek Uzhakhov, former head of the Bank of Russia's Ingushetia branch, has been sent to court. He is accused of abuse of office related to the theft of bank property by a relative.

According to the prosecutor's office, Uzhakhov's relative, who worked for him, removed Bank of Russia property under the guise of repair work and then sold it online. Between February 2023 and October 2024, the bank suffered losses exceeding 4 million rubles.

Law enforcement officials believe that Uzhakhov was aware of his relative's crimes but failed to fire him and, moreover, attempted to conceal the theft by forcing his subordinates to falsify accounting documents. The case will be heard by the Magas District Court.
