Russia does not intend to comply with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling requiring Georgian citizens to pay over 250 million euros, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated. When asked about the possibility of improving Russian-Georgian relations if the payment were made, Peskov noted that the Kremlin views this issue as a separate matter.

A court in Magas has dismissed Albert Khamkhoev's complaint about the suspension of a criminal case on torture at the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 2018, he was sentenced to one and a half years of probation on charges of illegal possession of weapons.
The torture case against Khamkhoev has already been suspended 19 times. According to investigators, there is insufficient evidence to bring charges against the police officers.
According to Khamkoev, in November 2017, Center "E" officers beat him and tortured him with a stun gun. They demanded that he confess that the weapons seized from him were allegedly received by him from members of illegal armed groups.
A criminal case against the security forces was opened in January 2018. However, it was never completed, despite repeated complaints from the lawyer and orders from the prosecutor's office. In 2018, Khamkhoev was sentenced to one and a half years of suspended imprisonment. In 2023, the ECHR awarded him compensation in the amount of 52 thousand euros.
