Death of Climber from Vladimir Under Investigation in Karachay-Cherkessia

The Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor's Office of Karachay-Cherkessia have launched parallel inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death of a climber from Vladimir in the Daut Gorge. The man fell near the MIFI Peak; investigators are currently establishing the details of the incident.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the deceased was part of a registered group of seven people. Details regarding exactly what occurred during the ascent have not yet been released.

The regional department of the Investigative Committee reported that investigators and forensic specialists are already working at the scene.

"Investigators from the department, together with forensic specialists, are conducting a comprehensive set of investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident," the press service of the Investigative Committee for Karachay-Cherkessia stated.

Following the tragedy, personnel from the V. M. Dzeraev Karachay-Cherkessia Search and Rescue Squad were dispatched to the area near Lake Daut. Twelve rescuers and two vehicles were deployed to recover the body.

The Daut Gorge is one of Karachay-Cherkessia's most renowned high-altitude locations, popular among tourists and mountaineers. Routes of varying difficulty levels run through the area, including near the 3,676-meter-high MIFI Peak, where the member of the registered group from Vladimir lost his life during the climb.
