The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the completion of the formal steps necessary to launch direct trade operations between Ankara and Yerevan, part of the process of establishing bilateral relations that began in 2022.
The Almaty Investigative Court in Kazakhstan has extended the extradition detention of Chechen native Mansur Movlaev by two months. It was previously reported that he faces deportation to Russia.
According to the Instagram page "free_Mansour_Mowlaev," the court hearing was held without the participation of Mansur and his lawyers. Previously, Kazakhstan's Supreme Court suspended Movlaev's extradition until the completion of his asylum proceedings after the country's Prosecutor General's Office approved his extradition, despite the threat to his life in Russia.
Mansur Movlaev is wanted by Russian authorities on charges of financing extremism for a money transfer, which, according to the Chechen opposition movement "Adat," was carried out by security forces themselves. He also spent two years in a Russian prison colony on drug possession charges, which he believes were fabricated due to his political activity.
After his release in 2022, Movlaev claimed he was kidnapped and tortured in an illegal prison in Chechnya. In 2023, he managed to escape to Kyrgyzstan, and in May 2025, he was detained in Kazakhstan at Russia's request. Mansur Movlaev also claimed that two of his brothers were kidnapped in Chechnya to force him to return to Russia.
