The Garrison Military Court in Nalchik sentenced contract soldier Bagaudin Nalgiev to eight years in prison. He was found guilty of unauthorized abandonment of his unit and violation of statutory relationships.
According to investigators, Nalgiev left his duty station twice. The first time, he returned on his own, and the second time, he was detained by military police. The man was also charged with using violence against the officer on duty at the checkpoint: Nalgiev allegedly tried to strangle him. The contract soldier himself stated that he only held him by the uniform, without using violence.
Taking into account mitigating circumstances in the form of the accused having three young children, the court sentenced him to eight years.
