Elena Patyaeva—a friend of Seda Suleymanova, who disappeared three years ago after being forcibly returned from St. Petersburg to Chechnya—was detained in Grozny. On August 23, Patyaeva stood by the monument to journalists who died for freedom of speech, holding a sign that read: "I demand an investigation into the murder of Seda Suleymanova." In the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, 34 participants in the protest against the arrival of Israeli residents were fined
In Cherkessk, security forces drew up protocols under the rally article (Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code) for 34 participants in the protest against the arrival of refugees from Israel to Karachay-Cherkessia.
The rally took place on October 28 in front of the government house. Participants called for not allowing refugees from Israel into the republic, evicting the Jewish population and organizing a collection of aid for Palestine.
According to the security forces, 80 people took part in the rally, but the participants themselves talk about 500 people gathered.
