A Baku court has extended the pretrial detention of Ali Karimli, chairman of the opposition Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), by four months. He is charged under Article 278.1 of the Criminal Code, which provides for liability for actions aimed at the violent seizure of power or overthrowing the constitutional order.
A court in Cherkessk found the former head of the Ekazhevo post office in Ingushetia guilty of fraud and participation in a criminal organization. She was sentenced to 4.5 years. She is involved in a criminal case involving the former head of the federal postal service of Ingushetia, Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov. He is the older brother of the head of the republic, Kazbek Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov.
According to investigators, the criminal organization was created by the head of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation in Ingushetia, Islam Seinaroyev, and the head of the local branch of the Russian Post, Kambulat Sukiyev. In total, it included 34 people, most of whom were arrested, including Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov. It was noted that his actions contained elements of a crime under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft by fraud). Under the article on fraud, he faces up to ten years in prison, and under the article on criminal association – up to 20 years.
