On the 12th anniversary of Russia's seizure of Crimea, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement reaffirming its non-recognition of the peninsula as a subject of the Russian Federation.
The leaders of the North Caucasian national movements at a conference in Kyiv agreed to raise the issue of restoring the statehood of the Union of the Peoples of the North Caucasus (Mountain Republic). This goal is included in the final resolution.
The participants also adopted the Appeal of the State Committee for the De-occupation of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. It will be used in communication with parliaments and leaders of UN member states. They will be asked to recognize the Chechen people as a nation that is fighting for its independence.
Recall that a conference dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the Mountainous Republic was held in Kyiv. The event brought together Ukrainian and foreign politicians, leading representatives of the political structures of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in exile and leaders of the Circassian diasporas from Ukraine, Turkey and the United States. In addition, the leaders of the Crimean Tatar national movement were invited.
