Crimean Tatar human rights activist is not receiving medical care in prison

Despite his deteriorating health, human rights activist Server Mustafayev, who is serving a 14-year sentence in IK-1 in Tambov, is not receiving the medical care he needs. The Crimean Tatar suffers from severe back pain, and although a prison neurologist prescribed him an X-ray and a course of injections back in February, the treatment has not been administered.

Mustafayev's family is forced to provide him with painkillers on their own. In addition, he is under pressure in the colony, is serving his second year in strict conditions, and has been repeatedly placed in solitary confinement.

Mustafayev previously reported deteriorating vision and heart problems in prison. He was arrested in 2018. In 2020, the Southern District Military Court sentenced him to 14 years in prison on charges of participating in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir. It is banned in the Russian Federation, but operates freely in Ukraine and other countries of the world and Europe.

More than 3,000 people in the Derbent and Tsumadinsky districts were left without gas due to damaged utility lines.
