The Kremlin expressed “concern” about a new war in Karabakh

Moscow is concerned about the sharp escalation of tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

The Kremlin also believes that the Azerbaijani military must take measures to ensure the safety of civilians in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Russian military is in contact with the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides.

In Yerevan, protesters blocked the exit from the Russian Embassy with large flags of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. Participants also demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, explaining that this is the only way to save Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Let us recall that on September 19, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced the start of “anti-terrorism measures” in Karabakh to restore the constitutional order. Baku is using high-precision weapons to destroy military targets in Armenia, the department said.

Official Yerevan called what was happening aggression and stated that there are no Armenian troops in Karabakh. Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting of the Security Council of the Republic, and also discussed the situation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and French President Emmanuel Macron. The Armenian government reported that Paris is initiating a meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
