During a live broadcast, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov commented on the case of political prisoner Zarema Musayeva—the wife of federal judge Saidi Yangulbayev and mother of opposition activists Abubakar, Ibrahim, and Baysangur Yangulbayev. He claimed the woman was "taken" to Chechnya because her family members "worked on social media." A relevant excerpt from the broadcast was published by Chechen opposition blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov.
At the Manas International Airport, employees of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan detained an activist from Chechnya, Mansur Movlayev. Earlier, he was put on the federal wanted list in Russia in the case of financing extremism. This was announced by the head of the human rights movement "Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan" Tolekan Ismailova.
Movlaev was placed in a temporary detention center in Bishkek. “He spoke out against human rights violations and political repression in Chechnya. In his statements and publications, the activist raised issues of violation of freedom of speech, arbitrariness of law enforcement agencies and other problems in the region. In the Russian Federation, he was tortured,” Tolekan Ismailova said.
In 2020, Mansur Movlayev was sentenced to three years on charges of financing extremism. His supporters say the case against him was fabricated. In 2022, he was released on parole, but he was detained by security forces in Chechnya. Movlaev fled and was able to illegally get to Kyrgyzstan, where he was arrested. The man faces deportation to Russia.
