A group of Palestinian refugees has arrived in Makhachkala

A group of 49 people who fled the Gaza Strip and hold Russian citizenship (or are relatives of Russian citizens) has arrived in Dagestan. Among the Palestinians are also children.

Fayziddin Nurmatov, a representative of a charity, reported that the arrivals were greeted at the airport as people in need of assistance and that a small number will be sent to other Russian cities. Of these, 34 will be accommodated in Makhachkala.

The arrival of the refugees comes amid reports that several countries, including the UK, Australia, Canada, and Portugal, have recognized Palestinian statehood.
