The father of the shepherd brothers killed in Dagestan by security forces spoke in support of the co-chairman of Memorial.

In the Moscow court in the criminal case of the co-chairman of the Memorial human rights center Oleg Orlov, accused of repeatedly discrediting the Russian army, Murtazali Gasanguseinov acted as a witness. His sons were shot dead by security forces in Dagestan.

“I am the father of deliberately killed sons. They worked as shepherds and were killed. For a year our family was tortured, turning them into terrorists. I turned to Memorial, where they helped me remove the stigma of terrorists. Oleg Petrovich Orlov played a key role. When human rights activists began to help us, the head of the organization in Dagestan was beaten and the office car was set on fire,” Gasanguseinov said.

On August 23, 2016, near the village of Goor-Hindakh, Shamil region of Dagestan, the Gasanguseinov shepherd brothers, Gasangusein and Nabi, were shot dead. Their father Murtazali tried for many years to achieve fair punishment for the murderers.

Let us remind you that 17-year-old Nabi and 19-year-old Gasanguseyn Gasanguseinov were killed during a “special operation”. The security forces declared them “militants” and opened a case of attempted murder of law enforcement officers. They put camouflage jackets on the already dead brothers and hung up weapons.
