Musayeva is a suspect in the new criminal case
Previously convicted Zarema Musayeva is a suspect in the new case; charges have not yet been brought against her. This was reported by the "Team Against Torture".

Recall that last week it became known that another criminal case had been opened against Zarema Musayeva - under the article on disorganization of the activities of the colony (Part 2 of Article 321 of the Criminal Code). The woman faces up to five years in prison.

According to the investigation, Musayeva attacked an FSIN officer who accompanied her on her daily trips to the hospital, hit him and tore off his shoulder strap. Zarema denies these charges and claims that she physically could not have attacked a security officer even if she had wanted to.

Zarema Musayeva has insulin-dependent diabetes type 2. In May, she was treated in a day hospital, and in June, in the final protocol, her diagnosis was changed to one that does not allow her to be released from prison due to health reasons.

Earlier, the European Court of Human Rights awarded Zarema Musayeva and her family compensation for inhuman treatment and threats from the Chechen authorities. In early March, the Pyatigorsk Cassation Court mitigated the woman's sentence, reducing the term from 5 years to 4 years and 9 months of imprisonment. Last year, in Grozny, she was convicted on charges of using violence against a government official.

Recall that on January 20, 2022, police officers from Chechnya arrived in Nizhny Novgorod and forcibly took Musayeva to her home region. After being taken to Grozny, the woman was accused of using force against a police officer. Allegedly, she scratched his face.

Zarema Musayeva is the mother of Chechen activists Abubakar, Ibragim and Baysangur Yangulbayev. Human rights activists claim that she was kidnapped as a hostage and convicted for her sons' opposition activities.
