Stalin bust erected in North Ossetia
A bust of Joseph Stalin has appeared in the village of Nart in the Ardon district of North Ossetia. As noted by the chairman of the public movement "For Our Vladikavkaz" Kazbek Tautiev, the appearance of new monuments to the leader of the USSR is explained by the society's demand for an objective coverage of history.

"The figure of Stalin is associated with both decisive achievements in the history of our country in the 20th century, and at the same time controversial decisions that still cause discussion. It is fair to erect busts and monuments to him, because this person played such a big role in the history of our country that it cannot be diminished, no matter what discussions are going on around him," explained Kazbek Tautiev.

Recall that on February 23, 1944, Soviet General Secretary Joseph Stalin gave the order to deport Chechens and Ingush from the North Caucasus to Central Asia and Siberia. This act was recognized as genocide by many countries of the world and the European Parliament. Half a million people were forced to leave their homes. The number of victims during the eviction exceeded a third of the total number of peoples. In addition, Kalmyks, Karachays, Balkars, Crimean Tatars and other peoples were deported.

Earlier, residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and Ingushetia asked the authorities not to glorify the figures responsible for Stalin's deportations. They are concerned about the increasing number of Stalin busts and monuments in his honor. There are currently more than 110 of them. Such memorials exist in 40 regions, and most of them are in North Ossetia, Dagestan and Yakutia.
