A Chechen man serving a 17-year prison sentence for allegedly preparing a terrorist attack faces a new disciplinary sanction shortly after spending five days in a punishment cell. His wife says he is being treated unfairly and fears he could be transferred to stricter prison conditions.
US hopes for a future peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan
The US State Department said that Azerbaijan and Armenia will continue to enjoy the support and participation of the country in their efforts to conclude a peace agreement. “We continue to believe an agreement is possible and look forward to further negotiations in the coming months,” spokesman Matthew Miller said.
Late last month, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken hosted Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers Jeyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan for bilateral peace talks.
Progress was made during the meeting, officials said, but "a lot of work needs to be done to try to reach a final agreement."
