Russia cannot in any way prevent America from implementing all the important diplomatic measures necessary to reconcile Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said that the United States considers the South Caucasus as a springboard for opening a “second front” against the Russian Federation. All this, he said, is fundamentally contrary to the genuine interests of the peoples of the region. In response, Washington reported that Russia was hindering progress in achieving peace in the South Caucasus.
At the end of last year, the State Department proposed holding another meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan for peace talks. Despite Moscow’s statements, they will continue efforts aimed at achieving peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Washington concluded.
