The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has published a report alleging that Georgian authorities used chemical weapons during the suppression of pro-European protests in Tbilisi in 2024. The chemical weapon in question is bromobenzyl cyanide, a chemical warfare agent dating back to World War I, also known as "kamit."
A tourist tax was introduced in the capital of the CBD
From January 1, a tourist tax of 100 rubles per person per day was introduced in Nalchik (Kabardino-Balkaria). It will be charged to those staying at the accommodation. The amount will be included in the price of the rooms.
The rate will increase annually and from 2029 will be 5% of the cost of accommodation. Residents of the CBD, Belgorod, Kursk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, families with many children, children under 14 who have suffered as a result of natural or man-made disasters and are being treated under mandatory medical insurance are exempt from paying the tax.
The authorities decided to introduce the specified tax from January 1, 2025 in 55 regions.
