The body of Abakar Abakarov, the former co-founder of the Russian Congress of the Peoples of the Caucasus and the alleged owner of the "Utro Dagestan" Telegram channel, was found in a rented villa in Istanbul. Media reports indicate the cause of death was stab wounds, although this information has not yet been officially confirmed.

The investigation of the criminal case against natives of the Stavropol Territory Kairbek Bakiev, Ilkhan Kanmurzaev and Eldar Mashaev has been completed. They are accused under Part 2 of Art. 209 (participation in a gang), Art. 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (armed rebellion) and Art. 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attack on the life of military personnel).
According to investigators, in June 1999, the accused, as part of a formation led by field commanders Shamil Basayev and Khattab, took part in an attack on the territory of the Botlikh district of Dagestan. As a result, 33 soldiers were killed and 34 were injured.
Earlier, “New DOSH” reported with reference to the Memorial Center for Human Rights Protection that such criminal cases are on stream, the charges are often falsified, but the defense cannot refute them, since the evidence and witnesses are classified.
