The Armenian authorities said that the country was forced to join the Union State of the Russian Federation and Belarus

They tried to force Armenia to join the Union State. This was stated by the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic Alen Simonyan.

“In 2021, the Armenian people defeated a big geopolitical plan, the task of which was to bring us to this Union State,” says the speaker.

The Union State is a supranational formation of the Russian Federation and Belarus with a single political, economic and military space.

The day before, Simonyan said that Armenia would move in the direction that would provide it with maximum security. According to the politician, the country is ready to deepen relations with the European Union and become a candidate for EU membership.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that his country has no choice but to move towards Europe. He also repeatedly criticized the military-political bloc CSTO, which is under Russian influence, and announced the freezing of Armenia’s participation in it.
