Azerbaijani authorities criticize European Parliament resolution
The Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis) rejected the criticism leveled at the country's authorities in the European Parliament resolution. It concerned repressions against journalists and activists.

"This resolution is directed against Azerbaijan, and this has been going on for a long time. There is no doubt that this is part of a smear campaign. All fundamental rights and freedoms are fully guaranteed in Azerbaijan, including the need to comply with the requirements of the law," the Baku statement said.

According to the Azerbaijani parliament, the immediate implementation of orders from France, Armenia and the Armenian lobby is a characteristic feature of the political face of the European Parliament.

Earlier, the European Parliament adopted a resolution condemning the repressions of the Azerbaijani government against civil society and the media.

"Since 2023, the Azerbaijani authorities have been systematically repressing civil society, the political opposition, human rights defenders and independent media. There are more than 300 political prisoners in Azerbaijan," the document says.

The authors called for an end to the repression of dissident groups and the release of human rights defenders, journalists, political and other activists prosecuted on so-called politically motivated charges.
