The authorities of Dagestan are seeking the transfer of those involved in the "airport case" to local colonies

The authorities will seek to phase out those convicted in the case of mass riots at the Makhachkala airport in the colonies of the republic. Zapyr Alkhasov announced this at a session of the parliament.

According to him, he has no opportunity to transfer court proceedings from Stavropol and Krasnodar Territory to Dagestan.

"I was approached by parents and relatives of children who were prosecuted under a number of criminal articles. The status of an authorized person does not allow me to interfere in the work of judicial authorities. What we are now participating in is to ensure that persons who have already been sentenced are staged to serve their sentences closer to their families," Alkhasov explained.

Earlier, human rights activists pointed to the bias of the trial: among the accused there could be those who did not participate in the storming of the airport. Relatives of many defendants stated that they consider the sentences too strict and unfair. 11 prosecution witnesses could not identify the defendants accused of the pogrom at the Makhachkala airport after the arrival of the flight from Israel.

93 people have already been found guilty of participation in mass riots and failure to comply with transport safety requirements. According to the investigation, the accused participated in the pogrom at the Uytash airport in Makhachkala after the arrival of the plane from Israel. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan reported that 1,500 people participated in the action, criminal cases were opened against 142.

As a reminder, on October 29, 2023, hundreds of people broke into the Makhachkala airport, trying to find passengers of a transit flight from Tel Aviv. Those gathered opposed Israel's actions in Palestine.
