The French authorities, contrary to the decision of the ECHR, are threatening to expel natives of Chechnya from the country

After 20-year-old native of Ingushetia Mohammed Mogushkov killed a teacher at a school in the city of Arras, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin ordered the expulsion of “dangerous” Russians to the Russian Federation. The minister considers these, as far as one can judge from his activities in this post, first of all, Chechens. For this purpose, he, by his own admission last week, received the approval of President Macron to resume direct contacts with his Russian colleagues. And the sanctions against the Russian authorities with the freezing of relations with them, imposed as a result of Russian aggression against Ukraine, turned out to be a completely surmountable obstacle for Mr. Darmanen to the implementation of his long-standing plans.

According to the French authorities, we are talking about 60 Russian citizens included in the database of suspects of terrorist radicalization. 40 of them are now in prison. In recent days, several Russian citizens have already been placed in administrative detention centers with a view to their deportation.

Recently, a decree was signed in France to deprive a 25-year-old native of Chechnya of citizenship, who also has Russian citizenship. In January 2020, he was sentenced to 9 years in prison on charges of preparing a terrorist attack.

Moreover, Gerald Darmanin has repeatedly emphasized that the decisions of the ECHR condemning France for the expulsion of Chechens are also not an obstacle for him. In 2021-2022 Let us recall that the ECHR made four decisions condemning France for the expulsion of Chechens, since they were threatened with torture and death in the Russian Federation.

In December 2020, 18-year-old Daud Muradov was expelled, although he had the status of an asylum seeker. Upon arrival in Moscow, Muradov was detained by FSB officers and tortured, extracting confessions of facilitating terrorist activities. At the beginning of February 2022, it became known that the young man died in a pre-trial detention center in Grozny, unable to withstand torture.
