Georgian authorities comment on US sanctions against Ivanishvili
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze commented on the introduction of sanctions by the United States against the founder and honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream Bidzina Ivanishvili.

"Blackmail, pressure, threats that are carried out against Georgia do not work at all. The opposition is forced to take steps that will ultimately lead to universal recognition of the legitimacy of the elections," Kobakhidze said.

According to him, Ivanishvili was de facto under sanctions. Back in 2016, the United States attempted to freeze his funds in the Swiss bank Credit Suisse.

Currently, the sanctions involve freezing Ivanishvili's assets in the United States and prohibiting citizens and legal entities of the country from conducting deals and transactions with him.
