Georgian authorities skeptical about opposition's decision to give up parliamentary mandates
The first session of parliament will be held in Georgia in 10 days after the results of the parliamentary elections are announced. This was announced by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. He noted that the presence of the president is not required for this and the deputies will hold the session without the consent of Salome Zurabishvili. She is an opponent of the ruling Georgian Dream party.

Kobakhidze also said that the opposition should be replaced by new, healthy political forces.

"Everyone knows that it is impossible to cancel the lists before the first session of parliament. Therefore, when the first session of parliament takes place, the powers of all deputies will be known. After that, if anyone wants to contact the Georgian Parliament or the Central Election Commission on issues of canceling the lists or terminating the mandate, they can do so, but only after the first session of parliament," Kobakhidze recalled.

Earlier, the leaders of two opposition coalitions – the Coalition for Changes and Unity – National Movement – Nika Gvaramia and Tina Bokuchava announced their refusal to join the new parliament. They noted that the CEC and the ruling party would find many reasons to challenge their decision. However, according to them, this will not change anything: they will refuse mandates and submit applications as many times as necessary. Later, the leaders of the Strong Georgia coalition announced their application to refuse the mandate.

On October 26, parliamentary elections were held in Georgia, in which the ruling Georgian Dream party won, gaining 53.92% of the vote. Afterwards, protests organized by the opposition began in the country. The latter accuses the current authorities of falsifying the elections.
