Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that during the 44-day war in Karabakh, an information campaign was launched against Azerbaijan with the aim of accusing Ankara of supporting Baku. He emphasized that these accusations relied on the rhetoric of Ankara's opponents and spread false information about Turkish arms supplies to Azerbaijan.
The European Court of Human Rights ordered the Russian authorities to pay 26 thousand euros to Derbent resident Temirkhan Amakhanov, recognizing him as a victim of torture by security forces.
In April 2016, two police officers, Gasan Adalov and Magomed Yunusov, broke into Amakhanov’s apartment by breaking down the front door. The victim believes that their visit was connected with his social activities, in particular, with an appeal to the mayor's office and the prosecutor's office with a request to suspend construction work in their yard. According to Amakhanov, the security forces shot him and his wife several times and left.
In 2017, these police officers came to Temirkhan Amakhanov again, allegedly because of a scandal in the family, and detained him. The investigation established that the man was beaten at the police station. After this, doctors diagnosed him with a rupture of the spleen and small intestine, as well as a fracture of the phalanx of the finger of his left hand.
