Serbian authorities revoke the citizenship of Ramzan Kadyrov's nephew

Serbia revoked the citizenship of Yakub Zakriev, the nephew of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, shortly after his extradition. He was initially granted citizenship as a foreigner of interest to Serbia. However, following media reports and a review of the decision, Serbian authorities revoked his passport.

According to Serbian officials, citing Nedeljnik, the reason for the revocation was that Zakriev posed a "danger to human life and health, and public safety." The revocation document itself does not contain his name, only the citizenship decision number.

Yakub Zakriev served as mayor of Grozny, then became deputy prime minister and minister of agriculture in Chechnya. In 2023, following Vladimir Putin's decree transferring the Russian assets of the French dairy company Danone to state control, Zakriev became the head of Danone Russia, which was subsequently renamed Logika Moloka (Milk Logic). Since July 2025, he has also served as president of the Akhmat football club (Grozny).
