The authorities included the declaration of independence of Kalmykia in the list of extremist materials

The Ministry of Justice of Russia included in the list of extremist materials the declaration "On the state independence of the Republic of Kalmykia", adopted at the end of 2022. It is reported by Kavkaz.Realii.

The declaration contains criticism of the current political regime in the Russian Federation, including the centralization and militarization of the country, the total attack on the cultures and languages of non-Russian peoples, the authoritarian and imperialist nature of Russian politics.

“As the aspirations of the peoples of the national republics for freedom and self-determination grew in Russia, law enforcement agencies decided to respond. Members of the congress of the Oirat-Kalmyk people who managed to leave Russia continue their anti-imperial work, despite the prohibitions and restrictions,” said Batyr Boromangnaev, deputy chairman of the congress of the Oirat-Kalmyk people, ex-head of the regional branch of the Yabloko party. Members of Congress who live in Russia are not speaking now due to repressive laws.

Recall that for the mass distribution of extremist materials, including publications on the Internet, today there is an administrative liability.
