Airports are being reconstructed or built in all regions of the North Caucasus Federal District

The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation plans to complete the construction and reconstruction of airports in almost all regions of the North Caucasus by 2028. The Russian government included in the plan projects for the reconstruction of airports in Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia and North Ossetia.

The mechanism for constructing an airport in Karachay-Cherkessia is also being worked out. Today, the reconstruction of the air harbors of Dagestan, Chechnya and two airports in the Stavropol region (Minvody and Stavropol) is underway.

At Makhachkala Airport, work continues on the reconstruction of the airfield infrastructure and the construction of a new runway 3,200 meters long.

At the same time, the completion of the construction of a new terminal complex and reconstruction of the airfield in Grozny (Severny, Chechnya) was postponed from 2025 to 2026 due to additional work. The reason for adjusting the timing was changes in the construction of a runway with a length of 3.2 thousand meters. Due to additional work, the cost of the project increased from 15.7 billion rubles to 17.5 billion rubles.
