A serviceman from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic was sentenced to seven years
The Nalchik Garrison Military Court sentenced serviceman Arsen Baev to seven years in prison. He was found guilty of abandoning his military unit.

In January 2024, Baev left his temporary deployment point without good reason and went to the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. He was detained in September of the same year. The man expressed regret for what he had done.

Baev had previously been sentenced twice to real terms for committing serious and moderate crimes, while the convictions had not been expunged. Based on the totality of the sentences, he was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 7 years in a strict regime colony.

Recall that in 2022, the Russian Federation toughened the punishment for abandoning a military unit or desertion. The maximum stipulated term of imprisonment was increased to 10 years.
