Elena Patyaeva—a friend of Seda Suleymanova, who disappeared three years ago after being forcibly returned from St. Petersburg to Chechnya—was detained in Grozny. On August 23, Patyaeva stood by the monument to journalists who died for freedom of speech, holding a sign that read: "I demand an investigation into the murder of Seda Suleymanova." This was reported by the human rights project "Slovo Zashchite" (Word for the Defense).
Bagaudin Gaitukiev, a doctor detained in March 2022 from Ingushetia, is accused of supplying weapons to terrorists. He had previously been accused of aiding and abetting members of a prohibited armed group.
The investigation claims that Gaitukiev handed over weapons to a member of an extremist organization to carry out a terrorist act. In addition, according to the investigation, he helped buy medicines for two residents of the Republic who were members of the NWF.
Bagaudin Gaitukiev became known in Ingushetia due to the operation carried out in 2009 by the head of the republic Yunus-Beku Yevkurov. He was wounded after a suicide attack on his motorcade. Gaitukiev was awarded the title of "Honored Doctor of the Republic of Ingushetia". In addition to his medical work, he has been active in charitable work, helping poor and orphans to build homes, buy medicines and go abroad for treatment.
