Aliya Yangulbaeva, the daughter of Chechen political prisoner Zarema Musayeva and former federal judge Saidi Yangulbaev, published an open letter to Aishat Kadyrova, the eldest daughter of the head of Chechnya, on her Instagram account, asking for assistance in securing her mother's release.
Members of the organizing committee of forced migrants from Chechnya living in Ingushetia (mainly Ingush nationality) addressed the President of the Russian Federation, the head of government, the chairmen of the State Duma and the Federation Council. They stated that the issue of arrangement had not been resolved for many years. Most of them did not receive full compensation from the state.
“For the past 30 years, the plight of a significant number of citizens who have lived and built Ingushetia has not been taken into account. And as a result, so unfairly forgotten by their state,” the appeal says.
The first settlers from Chechnya appeared in Ingushetia during the First Russian-Chechen War. According to the government decree, they were awarded monetary compensation. The economic crisis of 1998 devalued this assistance. The compensation was not enough to purchase or build housing. However, having received the money, people automatically lost their forced migrant status.
