A survivor of a helicopter crash in Dagestan has shared details

Akhmat Akhmatov, director of the Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant (KEMZ), who survived a helicopter crash in Dagestan on November 7, shared details of the incident. According to him, the aircraft was in good technical condition, with only 40 flight hours.

The aircraft was initially planned to land on a prepared, compacted soil pad on the grounds of the Terek recreation center, which was under construction. According to Akhmatov, the pilot failed to land on the first landing attempt. During the second approach, the helicopter's speed was too high. A technician tried to warn the pilot. However, the helicopter hit the ground at high speed, took off, landed in the water, and then took off again.

Akhmatov claims the aircraft fell from a height of approximately 70 meters. He did not immediately regain consciousness after the impact. Discovering his clothes on fire, he managed to extinguish the flames and escape from the cockpit. The survivors were immediately hospitalized.

The crash occurred near the village of Achisu, not far from the Solnechny Bereg recreation center. There were six employees of the KEMZ concern on board. Five died in the tragedy, including a technician. Only director Akhmat Akhmatov and the pilot, who is currently in custody, survived. A criminal case has been opened against the pilot.
