During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. Contract soldier from Kabardino-Balkaria received only one year in prison for beating a police officer
The Nalchik Garrison Military Court found contract soldier Arsen Zakoroev guilty of beating a police officer. He was sentenced to only one year in prison.
The minor punishment was due to the fact that Zakoroev participated in "carrying out special tasks to escort dangerous goods to the Crimean Peninsula."
An examination found multiple bruises on the police officer's face and head, which were assessed as minor bodily harm. The police officer told the court that he was beaten by several people, but the investigation brought charges only against the serviceman.
