Russian citizen and billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, owner of the Tashir Group, will remain in custody for another 30 days. A Yerevan court has extended his pretrial detention.

Today, the first hearing in the criminal case against Zarema Musayeva for disrupting the activities of the penal colony (Part 2 of Article 321 of the Criminal Code) was held in the Shali City Court of Chechnya. The defendant denied the charge and said that she did not attack the FSIN officer or scratch his neck.
In court, Zarema Musayeva was on crutches due to severe pain in her knees. Also during this hearing, the court extended Musayeva's preventive measure for six months. The "Team Against Torture" intends to appeal this decision.
Recall that this is already the second criminal trial against Musayeva. According to the previous sentence, her term of imprisonment was to end in the spring of 2025. Now she faces up to five more years of imprisonment.
Zarema Musayeva is the wife of former federal judge Saidi Yangulbaev and the mother of Chechen activists Ibragim, Baysangur, and Abubakar Yangulbaev. In early March 2024, the Pyatigorsk Cassation Court reduced her sentence on the previous charge, reducing her prison term from 5 years to 4 years and 9 months. In July 2023, a court in Grozny found the woman guilty of using violence against a police officer and fraud and sentenced her to five years in prison. According to investigators, she scratched the face of a Chechen police officer during her transfer from Nizhny Novgorod to Grozny. Human rights activists claim that the woman was kidnapped as a hostage and convicted for her sons' opposition activities.
