Zarema Musayeva expressed hope for a fair verdict in the Supreme Court

Zarema Musayeva, sentenced in Chechnya to five and a half years, is awaiting an appeal in the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and hopes for the best. This was reported by Novaya Gazeta.

In addition, the woman said that she receives letters of support from different people, which give her strength and hope. Prayers also help her in the Grozny pre-trial detention center.

Musayeva was recently found guilty of using violence against a police officer and sentenced to five and a half years in prison. According to lawyers, taking into account the state of health, a woman cannot serve a sentence. She suffers from type 2 diabetes, has prolonged nosebleeds and pain in her arm.

Zarema Musayeva is the mother of Chechen human rights activists. Last year, she was kidnapped by the security forces, after which a fictitious criminal case was opened against her. Novaya Gazeta journalist Yelena Milashina and lawyer Alexander Nemov went to the verdict. On the way from the airport, they were severely beaten by masked gunmen.
