Zarema Musayeva was transferred to another colony

The meeting scheduled for today in the Fifth Court of Cassation in Pyatigorsk to consider the complaint against the conviction of Zarema Musaeva did not take place. At the same time, lawyer Alexander Savin learned about her transfer from a colony-settlement in the city of Argun to another, as yet unknown colony, the “Team Against Torture” reported.

The defense insists that Zarema’s guilt has not been proven, many procedural violations were committed when the courts considered the case, and a number of witness statements contradict each other.

Let us remind you that on January 20, 2022, police officers from Chechnya came to Nizhny Novgorod and took Zarema Musaeva away. After the woman was brought to Grozny, she was accused of using violence against a police officer. According to investigators, she scratched his face.

In addition, Musaeva was accused of aiding a certain Madina Azimova, who fraudulently issued consumer loans to insolvent borrowers.

In July 2023, a court in Grozny sentenced Zarema Musaeva to five years in prison. According to lawyers, given her health condition, she cannot serve her sentence. Zarema suffers from type 2 diabetes and had prolonged nosebleeds and pain in her arm.

Zarema Musayeva is the mother of Chechen activists Abubakar, Ibragim and Baysangur Yangulbaev. Human rights activists believe that she was kidnapped as a hostage and convicted of her sons’ opposition activities.
